TranslateBO

This article is translated to both English and Spanish.

[ENGLISH]

Hello everyone. A few hours ago, I made a call to all those who speak different languages to translate tweets to different languages. The number of requests and support has been very overwhelming, and I am very positively surprised with it.

Originally, we were going to do everything in a Telegram group, but the amount of requests I received to join has been overwhelming! So, this is how we are going to work:

Telegram Groups

We are keeping two Telegram groups. One discussion group, were we discuss how our activities are done, which is located here. The group were we do translation requests is located here.

In the second Telegram group, we will send the tweets we want to translate. People interested in it will send the translation, alongside the language. The idea is that you can easily have the tweets in various languages to share them quicker. We are trying to keep organized everything in Google Drive documents, which will become available to the public shortly. I encourage you to read the first messages in the group to understand better how it works, and ask questions in Beta if you have any.

Mass Translation Project

We invite you to join the Telegram groups to discuss the activities and request translation for specific tweets. But, we figured we could make it easier for those who have no interest in joining the groups.

So do this: When you find an important tweet from a Bolivian source, retweet it with the #TranslateBO and #TraductoresBO hashtags. This way, those of us who are interested in translating will be able to find the tweets very quickly. If you are doing a translation, please try to source the original Spanish source if you have enough space in your tweet.

Translation Tactics

Every translated tweet should find a way to link back to the source. Twitter is limited to 250 characters, so we understand you may not always have enough space to link back to the source. In that case, please try to link to the source starting a thread.

Once again, due to the 250 character limitation, it may be hard to due a full translation of all the tweets. Some languages just have longer words than normal (looking at you, German). Feel free to take some liberties in the translation, as long as the essence and main idea of the Tweet are still there. You will just have to make some Tweets shorter eventually, but it’s important the original meaning is still there.

Sharing

You can help a lot by just sharing the tweets that have already been translated. Copy and paste the tweet in all your favorite social networks, and share away!

Copia y págalos a tus redes sociales favoritas!
